At Alicat Scientific, engineers design hardware and firmware, then build, test, and manufacture products under one roof at the Tucson, Arizona facility. Alicat develops high-performance flow and pressure instrumentation for aerospace, bioprocessing, energy, environmental science, and advanced research applications.
The Senior Embedded Software Engineer will develop robust, deterministic embedded software controlling sensors, valves, and communication interfaces. The role includes real-time control algorithms, signal processing, protocol stacks, device-side application logic, configuration services, and diagnostic interfaces.
The engineer will work closely with precision analog circuitry and production calibration processes and will contribute throughout the product lifecycle from concept through production release and long-term support.
Responsibilities and technical areas include real-time embedded software development in C, interrupt-driven design, memory management, deterministic timing, RTOS or structured bare-metal architectures, embedded toolchains, automated testing, static analysis, hardware abstraction layers and drivers, ADCs, DACs, timers, PWM, DMA, EEPROM/Flash, sensor interfaces, embedded Linux, Python tooling, control systems, PID loops, filtering, calibration routines, and communication interfaces.
The role also involves bootloaders, firmware update strategies, device configuration, diagnostics, logging services, register- and hardware-level debugging, hardware bring-up with Electrical Engineering, automated unit/integration/hardware-in-the-loop testing, CI/CD, manufacturing test integration, and field diagnostics.
